39 weeks+

We had an appointment today (39 weeks, 2 days). Dr. Clifford said that my cervix is soft (as opposed to firm last week) but not dilated. We're still scheduled to be induced Friday (July 24) at 3am! I get to meet and hold Baby Bush in 4 days or less!!! YAY!!!

Here's my 39 week picture - my belly definitely looks like a bullet/torpedo!

Update!

We had a Dr's appointment yesterday at 38w3d. Unfortunately, I was not dilated at all even though baby Bush's head was still resting on my cervix (as it has been for a couple of weeks). Soooo, we moved our induction back a week...it is now scheduled for Friday, July 24. Oh well. Hopefully, Baby Bush will decide to arrive on his/her own before then!!!

Drano Test!

I promised my Aunt Leslie that I would try the Drano gender prediction test once I got past 16 weeks. I tried it this morning and the results are below (not the best picture but it was COLD outside so I was in a hurry!). It looks brown with a hint of green...which is supposed to indicate BOY! We'll find out if it's right in July!

Baby Bush pictures - 18 1/2 weeks!

We had a wonderful ultrasound today. Baby Bush measured a couple days ahead of his/her due date and weighs 9 oz - right on track! His/her heartbeat was 155 BPM. The tech did not even look between the legs so even she didnt know if our baby is a boy or girl!

Here are some of the amazing pictures from the ultrasound...

About to suck his/her thumb!

Mouth open - ready for thumb! :)

Skinny little "frog leg" - as Ethan called it!

My favorite picture - what a cute little foot!!!

Feet crossed and a leg & foot

Hand saying "hang loose" or "rock on!"

Less than 24 hours!

In less than 24 hours, we'll be at the doctor's office getting our 2nd ultrasound! I can't wait to see our baby - especially since I've been feeling him/her kick so much lately. He/she is especially active mid-morning so that should be the perfect time. I'm going to ask the tech to let us know when she's about to look "down below" so that we don't accidentally see any girl or boy parts. :)

I'll try to post the ultrasound pics tomorrow so check back soon to see the newest pics of Baby Bush!

Easy Reading

My mom told me that she had trouble reading the blog because of the background color and font color...so I've updated the colors to make it more reader-friendly! :)

Maternity Clothes

I finally broke down and bought some real maternity clothes for work! Before now, I had 2 pairs of elastic pants that I could wear to work -- but there are 5 days in a work week, so for the other days of the week, I've been safety pinning my regular pants! But it was just getting too uncomfortable to wear them like that all day. Until recently, the problem has been that most real maternity stuff was too big...but now (after gaining 8 1/2 lbs) it's all starting to fit better. So, I bought 2 pairs of maternity work pants and a sweater (all on sale!) at Destination Maternity. And my mom bought me a cute dress and a shirt! Thanks, Mom!

I also want to thank everyone who has given/lent me maternity clothes...I'm still waiting to fit into most of it, but I'm thrilled to have it all! MANY THANKS to:

Emily Mayo (everyone knows my favorite store is "Emily's Closet!")
Hayley Little
Michele McCarthy
Julie Watson
Jodi Dettman

I hope I didn't forget anyone! :)

Baby Bush says hello!

I started feeling Baby Bush moving/tapping yesterday and again today!!! His/her way of saying hello! It is an amazing feeling to know he/she is in there kicking around. I can't wait for more!

My friend Syd sent me a few gender prediction old wives tales...almost all of them lean towards boy! See my answers below...

1. Pull down the skin under your left eye and look at your eyeball (the white part). If you see a vein that looks like a V or branches, you will be having a girl. BOY

2. The Mayans determined the sex of the baby by taking the mother's age at conception, and the year of conception. If both are even or both are odd...it's a girl. If one is even and one odd it's a boy. Age 31 & 2008 = BOY

3. Go by your parents history. What did your mother have? What position are you in the children. . . 1, 2, 3rd. If you are the first born, you will have what your mother had but starting with the second, then third, then first. If you are the middle child, you will have 3, 2, 1. But if you are the last child, you will have exactly what you mother had. I'm the youngest but it's hard to determine b/c my mom's first pregnancy was boy/girl twins...but my brother was born 11 minutes earlier. So assuming my mom's "first" child was my brother, then BOY.

4. After a week camping with my 76 year old grandmother she told me she knew I was going to have a girl for this reason: when a woman is pregnant with a girl she will be crabby (to put it nicely) because all women are crabs and if you have one inside you are twice so. If you are pregnant with a boy you are happy and smiling . BOY

5. Acne = girl because more hormones are involved for a female. GIRL

Baby Bush's First Pictures!

On Nov 10, 2008, we found out that we are expecting a baby! We plan to welcome him/her into the world on or around July 25, 2009. We are so excited!

So far, being pregnant has been a complete joy. I've been very lucky...only occasional nausea in the first trimester.

On December 30, 2008, we got to see our baby for the first time at our first ultrasound! It was the most amazing experience. As soon as I could see the shape of a baby, I started crying. Ethan was the first to notice the heart beat flickering on the screen. He/She even waved at us! :)
